MOTORSPORT
Motorsport
is considered to be one of the most popular and successful sports
in Britain and has a great tradition of motorsport heroes and heroines.
There are over 800 registered motor clubs that organise 4,500 events
in 22 disciplines. Some 30,000 people hold full MSA competition
licences, but there are at least 100,000 competitors taking part
in this thrilling sport.
WHO
CAN COMPETE?
Motorsport
is open to anyone over the age of 8, male or female, with opportunities
for disabled drivers. Many competitors don't even need to have a
vehicle; roles such as co-driver are an integral part of the sport.
Their skills as a navigator and timekeeper are just as important
as those of the driver.
WHAT
IF I DON'T WANT TO COMPETE?
You
don't have to be a competitor to become actively involved. A great
way to introduce yourself to the sport would be to work as a marshal,
an official, or simply attend events as a spectator. Whatever the
role, your presence will be both welcomed and appreciated.
HOW
CAN I FIND OUT MORE?
The
first step for anyone wanting to get started in motorsport would
be to join your local motor club. In addition to this, a wealth
of help and advice can be provided by the sport's governing body,
the MSA, who can offer invaluable information on how to become involved
in the many and varied aspects of the sport.

CAN BE ADDICTIVE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
